2014 has marked two important anniversaries for Pisa: the 950th year since the first stone of the city Cathedral was laid and the 450th anniversary of the birth of Galileo Galilei.
Pisa and Tuscany want to celebrate both anniversaries by inviting American people to visit our wonderful cities and panoramic landscapes, experience our art, culture and lifestyle.
Some events have been planned to give a taste of what a traveler can find :
“The Pisan Romanesque Meets Contemporary America”, is a contest for high school students. It is open to all students enrolled in public or private high schools in San Francisco, California. Schools can participate in the contest from December 2014 until March 24th, 2015.
An exposition of a miniature Leaning Tower of Pisa (about 8 feet high) at the Westfield Center in San Francisco from January 13th until February 5th 2015.
Scientific conferences on the restoration of the original Leaning Tower will be held at UC Berkeley and at the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco on 21st and 22nd January 2015.
A food&wine tasting event for professionals, tour operators, journalists and representatives of the most important institutions in San Francisco.
